Valeria has over eight years of management experience in social development. She started her career establishing and heading the European Information Centre of the Parliament of Moldova. Later, Valeria worked for UNICEF Moldova focusing on improving opportunities for vulnerable groups of the society, particularly for youth and children. She has expertise in child protection and youth and adolescent development. During her career she provided technical advisory and consultancy on developing national and local strategies, working with international agencies, parliament and government of Moldova.
She has extensive project and programme management experience within the UK and overseas. Valeria worked on measuring the impact of Mathematics Mastery (ARK UK Programmes) and HCT Group. She has experience in product and services design, budget management, start-ups, social impact analyses and advisory. She is fluent in English, Romanian and Russian.
Valeria Ilies has a BA in International Economic Affairs and a Master in Business Administration from the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova.
