The Impact Collective

The Madeira Impact Collective is a dynamic initiative designed to support and grow impact entrepreneurship in Madeira. Our goal is to create an inclusive ecosystem where local communities and participants from all over the world — locals, digital nomads, expats — can collaborate and innovate for social and environmental change. By fostering connections, sharing knowledge, and providing mentorship, we aim to empower changemakers to drive meaningful impact in both the local and global context.

Why Madeira Island?

Madeira is rapidly becoming a hub for impact-driven businesses and entrepreneurs. With its stunning natural landscapes, vibrant culture, and growing entrepreneurial ecosystem, the island offers an ideal setting for cross-cultural collaboration and sustainable innovation. The Madeira Impact Collective harnesses these strengths to provide a thriving environment for both local and international changemakers to make a difference.

Our Impact Goals

Madeira Impact Collective is focused on creating a lasting impact through the following objectives:

  • Strengthen the ecosystem for impact entrepreneurship in Madeira by fostering growth and sustainability;
  • Develop frameworks for regenerative tourism that bring together locals and foreigners to build a collaborative future;
  • Promote cross-border collaboration for the exchange of knowledge, best practices, and innovative solutions;
  • Support locals and foreigners in addressing local challenges and creating sustainable business solutions;
  • Facilitate opportunities that align with the Sustainable Development Goals, driving forward economic, environmental, and social progress;
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive space for entrepreneurs and changemakers to thrive together;
  • Inspire similar models across other EU and Mediterranean regions.

Our 1st Impact Ideation Program 2025/2026

We united 13 passionate changemakers from Madeira and around the world to design and implement transformative local solutions,
e
mpowering the island to overcome its most pressing challenges.

Program Phases & Activities

1. Open Call for Participants (June 15 – July 15)
We launched an open call to attract passionate and committed individuals, including locals, digital nomads, expats, and entrepreneurs, ready to co-create solutions that help Madeira become a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient island.

2. Community Co-Creation Workshop (July 20)
Participants, members of the community, and the Madeira Impact Collective team worked side by side to explore local challenges, understand community needs, and shape a program rooted in Madeira’s unique context.

3. Participant Selection (August 1)
We selected 13 participants based on their motivation and alignment with the program’s goals.

4. Kick-off (Sept 18)
Participants, together with local experts from different sectors and members of the community, came together to launch the program, explore the local challenges that would shape the co-creation journey ahead, and build meaningful relationships.

5. Weekly Workshops (Sept 18 – Oct 23)
The Madeira Impact Collective team delivered weekly co-creation workshops, equipping participants with the tools, frameworks, and practical methodologies needed to ideate, develop, and launch their projects. The workshops also focused on cultivating the inner skills needed to lead positive change, including self-awareness, resilience, and collaboration.

6. Cultural Exchange Activities (Sept 1 – Feb 27)
In partnership with the Amparo Association, we organised weekly and later monthly, social and cultural activities that strengthened trust, encouraged cross-cultural exchange, and brought locals and internationals together.

7. Training, Co-working & Capacity Building (Nov 27 – Feb 27)
Based on participants’ needs, local experts delivered hands-on workshops that provided practical tools and knowledge to support the development of pilot projects.

8. Pilot Projects (Nov 27 – Feb 27)
The strongest ideas were brought to life by the participants, with some pilot projects supported by local stakeholders and experts. Weekly co-working sessions, mentoring, and ongoing guidance provided space for collaboration, feedback, and continued project development throughout the program.

9. Closing (March 13)
We concluded the program with a community celebration where participants showcased their pilot projects, reflected on their journey, strengthened local and international connections, and explored opportunities to continue growing their ideas beyond the program.
