Client: ABC Life Support — A social enterprise delivering physical and mental health first aid training
Duration: 1 hour 1-2-1 session & 2 hour Theory of Change working session (3 hours total)
Beneficiaries: ABC Life Support aims to provide accessible First Aid training to those who are normally unable to access this training. They have focused on the strands of inequality with a special interest in those who are economically disadvantaged.
The situation: As a participant of Hatch Enterprise’s Female Founders Accelerator, Danielle from ABC Life Support can book in time with experts to talk about their business. Their work had really picked up over the last year and they needed to scale – hire more people and grow the delivery and operations of the business. Danielle asked to speak with The Impact Collective to discuss how to approach scaling and what decisions she needed to make in the process.
Our solution: We provided an initial 1-2-1 session with her to discuss her challenges and determine how she could scale. There were a lot of directions she could take it to, so we proposed a Theory of Change working session, which helped focus and prioritise how she wanted to scale.
In preparation of the initial session and to make most of the time we had, we asked her to send any existing material like a business plan, financials, marketing materials, impact measurement, and most importantly, her expectations for the session.
The result:
- Together we drafted ABC Life Support’s Theory of Change, from which they refined their vision statement and determined the core 3 pillars of their work (Educate, Train, Empower) to create their final version
- The Theory of Change work defined their impact metrics to help them measure their impact
- With this strategy and their impact measurement tools in place, they developed the Young Persons Empowerment Programme and scaled work with key customers in 2022 — and created their first impact report for 2022
Testimonial:
“I feel as though our work with the impact collective was a defining moment in regards to our impact and how we measure it. The work that we did with Nadia was vital in our understanding of, the development of and implementation of our Theory of Change. The workshop was insightful and the lessons learnt will be used to further develop the organisation” – Danielle Bridge, ABC Life Support
